The most common vision problems, how to recognize them and how they are corrected.

01
Understanding and Treating Astigmatism
Astigmatism is a refractive error caused by an uneven curve in the cornea or the lens. It makes vision blurry or distorted at every distance, and it can appear on its own or together with nearsightedness or farsightedness.
Symptoms and Treatments
If it is not corrected, astigmatism can lead to headaches, eye strain and distorted vision. It can be treated with prescription glasses, special contact lenses or refractive surgery.

02
Understanding and Treating Hyperopia (Farsightedness)
Hyperopia, or farsightedness, is common and affects roughly a quarter of people. Objects up close look blurry, while distance vision is generally clear.
Symptoms and Treatments
People may get occasional headaches and eye strain and can tire quickly during close-up tasks. Glasses or contact lenses correct it.

03
Understanding and Treating Myopia (Nearsightedness)
Myopia, or nearsightedness, affects about one person in three. Faraway objects are hard to see clearly, while near vision stays sharp.
Symptoms and Treatments
Headaches and eye strain are common, and tiredness may show up when driving or playing sports. Glasses, contact lenses or refractive surgery can correct it.

04
Understanding and Treating Presbyopia
Presbyopia is the gradual loss of near vision that happens as the lens of the eye loses its flexibility. Most adults notice it in their early 40s, and it eventually affects everyone, even people who never had vision problems before.
Symptoms and Treatments
Common signs are holding reading material farther away, blurry vision at normal reading distance, and eye strain or headaches during close work. Reading glasses or multifocal contact lenses can help.
